| Tony gets his foot in the door on music row. He sets up one of
the first all MIDI recording studios in Nashville for Al Jolson
Enterprises. Yes, the son of the famous crooner, Al Jolson. His heavy involvement in MIDI from 1983 - 1988 spawned the MIDI
User's Forum, a group founded by Gerber and the local Macinteresteds
(Mac User Group), with approximately 150 members throughout the
mid-state area, monthly meetings and a monthly newsletter published
by Gerber and other members. It was in 1986 that the first Space
for Music concert was performed at Don Evans' farm in Joelton, Tennessee. During his stay at Jolson's studio, Gerber created two cassette releases, recorded on PCM DMB1000 Digital recorder from Nakamichi. The two releases were "Teleworks" and "Clearly Opaque". These are no longer available as cassettes, but Tony plans to re-release these recordings on a special double early works CD in the near future. I will be adding to this section periodically, so keep checking back. Watch for video clips from some Gerber's live performances. |
