Lektronic Soundscapes is an independent electronic music label based in Durham, North Carolina and a proud member of AFIM (Association for Independent Music). We are specialized in various styles of contemporary electronic music, including ambient, space, trance and psychedelic. The most recent projects for the label include a third volume of "Soundscape Gallery", and the 3rd release from Spacecraft entitled "Earthtime Tapestry.

Angel Romero (pronounced An-khel Romero) started the label in Madrid, Spain, with the intention of releasing various forms of electronic music: space music, ambient, rhythmic sequencer based, melodic and symphonic. Its first release was the European version of "Stormwarning" by the innovative American ambient music pioneer Steve Roach. The Lektronic Soundscapes European version featured new artwork and a bonus piece: "Aftermath", not available in the US version. Next came the third album by Swedish act Astral Dance. A few months later, two additional albums were released: "Virtuality" by German duo Changing Images and "Audiovisual Works", a collaborative effort featuring two of Spain's finest keyboardists: Santi Vega and Eva Gancedo.

In 1993, Angel Romero relocated to the United States and Lektronic Soundscapes' activities were temporarily discontinued. Two years later, Lektronic Soundscapes was reactivated with the release of "Blue Western Sky" by Tony Gerber.

ABOUT ANGEL ROMERO

Angel Romero ran two independent record labels: Lektronic Soundscapes and Alula Records (world music) until July, 2001. He is a graduate of Madrid University's Mass Communications College (MS in Print and Broadcast Journalism). Angel began writing about rock and progressive music, at the age of 18, for Spanish, Japanese, American and Mexican publications. At 20, he started a small distribution company specialized in exporting progressive music to Japan, the US and Germany. In 1985, Angel started to co-produce European neo-progressive rock compilations together with Steven Wilson, at No Man's Land Records, in London. Steven is currently the leader of space rock band Porcupine Tree. In 1987, Angel created his first record label, Mindchild Records, while attending college. Minchild Records produced a progressive rock album by Galadriel and several electronic music albums by the Barcelona-based Mutual Assured Destruction (M.A.D.) Galadriel's debut album was successfully exported to numerous countries and later licensed to French record company Muséa.

After completing his college education, Angel was hired by the largest TV network in Spain (TVE) to produce a weekly TV show, "Música NA", dedicated to alternative new music: world music, jazz, ambient electronic, etc. He videotaped live concerts and interviews, including the following artists: Pat Metheny, Steve Roach & Robert Rich, Michael Brook, Roger Eno, Andreas Vollenweider, Andy Summers, The Lounge Lizards, The Paul Winter Consort, The Kronos Quartet and The Bulgarian Women's Choir. Angel also produced documentaries about virtual reality technology, new inventions at the Stanford Computer Music Research Center, southwestern Native American music, the Bay Area music scene and the Frankfurt Music Fair.
