Symposium 2000 Mission

Our mission is to spread Albert Schweitzer's ethic of Reverence for Life throughout the world. If all peoples and all nations of the world would practice and believe in their hearts not only the phrase, Reverence for Life, but reverence for all life, we could have a beautiful world for our children and for the generations to come. Our hope is that Symposium 2000 will make a lasting contribution that will help shape a better tomorrow where people will learn to live together in harmony and peace. This is an opportunity for all of us to say to the world, "all mankind must strive for justice and peace and respect the dignity of every person in the twenty-first century and beyond." Albert Schweitzer wrote: "In the hearts of people today there is a deep longing for peace. When the true spirit of peace is thoroughly dominant, it becomes an inner experience with unlimited possibilities. It is only when this really happens, that the spirit of peace awakens and takes possession of men's hearts, that humanity can be saved from perishing."
